WELCOME

RESEARCH

We are a computational biology lab focused on identifying biomarkers of diseases, and developing methods and tools for multi-omics data integration and visualization.

Disease Biomarkers

We are interested in identifying molecular biomarkers for a range of diseases; from asthmatic responses to heart failure hospitalizations.

heart lung

omics data integration

We develop methodologies to integrate multiple high dimensional omics datasets for various study designs.

TEAM

Dr. Singh leads the CompBio Lab. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology & Therapeutics at UBC and a Principal Investigator at the Centre for Heart Lung Innovation (HLI).

Hello, I’m Gurjot! I am a second year student at UBC studying computer science. Apart from research, I enjoy playing hockey, watching movies, and hiking.

Jaimie is a fourth-year undergraduate student majoring in Pharmacology at UBC. She has an interest in multidisciplinary research and much of her work intersects physiology, programming, and statistics. Her current project at the CompBio Lab focuses on molecular property prediction for asthma using deep learning. In her spare time, she enjoys producing music, listening to podcasts, hip hop dance, and exploring the outdoors!

My name is Kayla Korolek, and I just finished my first year at UBC’s Southern Medical Program in Kelowna, BC. I am originally from Prince George, BC, where I completed my bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences (Honours), with a major in Biomedical Studies. My research experience includes work in qualitative research methods and working with people with physical disabilities about the social aspects of health. In my spare time I enjoy getting chai’s with friends, golf, and spending time by the water! I am fascinated by Dr. Amrit Singh’s current work, and I am so excited to work with everyone.

Patrick Thangarajah is a 4th-year Mechanical Engineering Student at the University of British Columbia, pursuing an option in Biomedical Engineering. His interests lie in using technology to track and improve medicine and healthcare. He enjoys keeping up with advancements in technology, playing piano, hiking and playing basketball.

We are recruiting undergraduate and graduate students (Masters and PhD) as part of the interdisciplinary Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology & Therapeutics at UBC.
